The Problem
Located on the Northwest side of Indianapolis, the town of Zionsville has been named Tree City USA for 11 years in a row. Zionsville is also home to boutiques, art galleries, fine dining, and elegant homes. John David Smith is a Zionsville resident who contacted Brick + Ember Outfitters due to some spalling brick. Spalling brick is most commonly referred to as “chipped brick” and is observed by homeowners when the face of the brick is chipping or falling off. This is an indication of water intrusion of the brick and Mr. Smith was right on point in addressing the spalling brick due to concern of a foreseeable internal leak.
The Solution
Brick + Ember Outfitters strives to be diligent and disciplined in matching both brick and mortar color to a home’s original colors. It is a major component in B+E’s service and commitment to homeowner happiness. Brick and mortar matches ensure the consistency in the aesthetics of any home. Due to the condition of the chimney’s masonry, Brick + Ember Outfitters performed a chimney rebuild for the Smith residents and tore the chimney down to the roofline. The rebuild process also included the installation of a stainless steel Chase Cover – a stainless steel cap designed with a convex top and drip edges to send water out and away from the chimney. The project took two days to complete and provided the Smith home with a leak-free chimney, and some peace of mind going forward.
